Check point list

I've been wondering if I could replace my current primitive version control procedure with the Checkpointing facility.

In descending order of priority the things which are deterring me are :

There is no list of checkpoints
Checkpoints are not timestamped
Automatic checkpoints are mixed with manual checkpoints

Are there any plans to enhance the checkpoint management functionality such that any/all of these will be addressed? Or does/will the editor support user installed plug-ins via which these things could be addressed?

There will be a list of checkpoints. There will eventually even be a way of diffing the book at different checkpoints. No reason checkpoints cant have timestamps, though I dont much see the utility of that.

If you wish to distinguish between automatic and manual checkpoints, simply give your manual checkpoints nice names.

At the moment I just use a sequence number (001, 002 etc)

I can put timestamp in the name with an existing AHK hotkey. Reason for asking was that most (maybe all) of the various restore facilities I use have timestamp either as the only or default identifier - its also an expectation borne of too many years messing around in computing.

Re auto checkpoints - something like Preferences->Plug-ins->show only user installed plugins would be nice. I assume the list would be presented in the sequence check points were taken.

@kovid - will there be an option to persist checkpoints across editing sessions, currently they seem to be temporary ?

If they are always to be temporary then your questioning of the utility of timestamps makes sense. In that case I'll stick with my existing title - author.nnn.epub scheme, if needs be I attach a descriptor file fork.

When I finally got around to playing with checkpoints I discovered they were transient. I wanted to make sure I hadn't missed a tweak.
