Calibre Companion specific formats download
I have lots of books. I have downloaded all as epubs to Calibre Companion. Can I download mobi and AZW3 without going to each book individually?
Thanks! |

![]() Please enlighten. Why would one want multiple formats of a single book on a device with limited storage? Second Question: Are you using the Content server (Pull from Calibre) mode? or as a Wireless Device (Push from Calibre)? |

Using content server. Quite simply because I originally loaded only epubs because I was going to use moon+reader, but I hate the dictionaries I am limited to with that app so want to use Kindle app.

You can easily do it from calibre when using the wireless device connection. Connect, select all books with formats:mobi and ondevice:true, then use "Send specific format to device" to send the mobi format to the device. You can also do it easily if you delete all the epubs (easiest done using wireless device connection), reorder the priority of formats in CC (settings, folders) so that mobi is above epub, then send the books. You could also do the first two steps then transfer the books in the content server. I do suggest that before doing anything you try using K4A to see if you like how it integrates with CC. Personally I can't imagine using it as a principle reader because it offers no way for other apps such as CC to ask it to open a specific book, losing many of CC's benefits at a book organizer. Perhaps that doesn't matter to you ... |

Thanks for the detailed reply. In the end, for me, the reading experience is the most important consideration,
and a good dictionary is a vital part of that. i find the dictionary lookup the single most important benefit of ebook reading, and if I can't have that I would rather go back to dead trees . |
