Post Series ordering

Hi not sure where to put this query & apologise if it is in the wrong place but I have a problem and not sure if it is a calibre or paperwhite one.

I have a lot of books many of which are part of a series so I like to put them in numerical order. Calibre works really well with this with the exception of one particular author and the 3 series I have of hers. If I try to put them in numerical order the same as the other authors I have, this particular author's books do not show up on my paperwhite although I know they are on there from looking in the document files on the device.

I am beginning to go stir crazy over this, if anyone has an answer to this particular problem I would be grateful especially as it only concerns 1 particular order.

Many thanks

Are you saying the books have had their metadata changed in calibre, plugboards possibly used to add series into the title, whatever....

Then you transfer one of them to your Kindle, the file appears in the file browser on the device, but the Kindle doesn't sense the book?

Can you read the book from calibre? i.e. is the ebook valid (not corrupted) and not locked with DRM? Because that is the only reason I can think of why your Kindle might not find the book.

I agree with eschwartz, sounds like a corrupted book....see if something is still indexing.

Perhaps it is something just as simple as updating the epub so the metadata is saved. The changes made in calibre are not in the metadata of the book until you modify the epub or save it to another location but are located in the metadata.opf file in the directory. I use Modify ePub plugin to update books after I modify the tags and series info or make changes other than just the title and author.

As long as I don't mess with any of this author's book metadata the books are seen on my paperwhite & readable, the minuite I try to add metadate or put her series' in order they vanish from my homepage although they are still on the device according to the device.

How are you adding the metadata?

And can you find the book by sorting by author? Sometimes Recent view causes books to disappear for no reason I can ascertain or predict, and usually I have to wipe every last trace of the book from my Kindle Touch, let the device realize this, then re-add. But when that happens, I can usually find it by sorting as Author or Title, or else by searching for the book.

Adding metadata via calibre and can find books by both author and title I just can't put these series in order all three are by the same author, really going mad now.
