KT5 Can't get screensavers to work

I am trying to set up my daughters Kindle Touch running 5.3.2.1 with screensavers of her kids before I give it to her for her birthday. I installed the JB (Kubricks is AMAZINGLY simple) and the screensaver hack kindle_touch_custom_screensavers_0.1, and have placed a test screensaver in the screensaver folder, checked and 3x checked for size and format, both are okay, yet I still get the last page seen on the Kindle when it turns off or goes into sleep mode. Am I missing something? I've read everything I can and just can't figure this out. Banging my head on the desk hasn't helped either

First and most common reason it doesn't seem to work is that people forget (after placing custom screensavers on their kindle) to do a restart via menu>settings>etc without the USB cord being attached. If that isn't the issue, try reading NiLuJe's troubleshooting post here... if you still can't get it to work, post your question in the screensaver thread of the Developer's Corner sub-forum and someone will get you sorted.

Edit- just re-read your post...you did use NiLuJe's screensaver hack by placing the file named update_linkss_0.16.N_update.bin in your root directory and doing a restart via the menu, correct? (I don't recognize your referenced kindle_touch_custom_screensavers_0.1)

Yup, I did do the restarts and directed, without the USB cord. I'll read the post by NiLuJe in the morning after work and yes, that was the hack file I used. I just referred to it by the name it downloaded as. My bad. Thanks for your help!
