Weird Things Happening

Hi!
I thought I'd see if anyone else is having issues like mine. They just started this week. I did load a new program - Ableton Live 9 and was using a midi controller. Calibre may have been open when I did this. And there may have been a crash involved. Not Calibre though.

I did initially notice the problem after I plugged in my mp3 player and told Calibre not to manage it. On my Toolbar, almost everything, including all my plugins, disappeared. The library I was in stayed with no problems. The plugins were there, I had to restart and then add them to the main toolbar again. But now the libraries are all gone. Well, they are all still there, but I need to locate and attach them again. I am currently running version 1.14 and downloading the update to see if that will help.

I have a toolbar for when I plug in my Kindle. So the toolbar shouldn't have changed.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

That thinking may lead you down unnecessary side paths.

Something may have stomped on the configuration settings being saved just at the wrong time. Not All the settings, just some (that were probably active at the time).

Have you tried (re)configuring your toolbars? Preferences: Toolbars: Main
(Sorry, I don't know which preference file stores the toolbar settings or I would have you rename that to force a creation of a new default)

Remember, there a separate configurations for when the device is connected and when there is no device.

Yes, I fixed it no real problem. I'm just worried it will happen again and I'd like to prevent that.

Also, though it was fixable, it took time I didn't really have. And the next time I might not be so lucky.

Keep a backup of your current configuration folder (tree).
Plugins and their settings are kept in a sub folder
