Afternoon all, how many of us read in a tablet and what do you like or the advantages of doing so. The reason I ask is I have a kindle dreaded and a tablet and keep going between the two to read on

I do my e-reading on my Nexus 7 now. I sold my Sony 350 back in September. I love the screen resolution. The high pixel density makes the text very crisp and easy to read, even small text. I also like that I can shop at different bookstores using apps. Plus I can directly download library ebooks to the device. It's more convenient than sideloading.

I prefer reading on my nexus7.2 tablet. It can hold all my books, organized with the calibre companion app, and read with the Moon+ Pro app. I find it much more versatile than any e reader I have tried.
For taking out of the house, I use my kobo mini or glo, as they are smaller and lighter. But there is a real difference in text rendering. My nexus is the best. And of course when I finish a book I can go right to goodreads and rate it, then here! |

I read on my Samsung Note 2 when commuting, and my Nexus 7 when at home. I prefer the lit screens that make it easier for me to see. My Sony T-1 rarely gets used now.

HD+ mostly. Either the PW1 or Kindle Keyboard if I'm out and about.

Nexus 7.2 with Mantano for me, haven't touched my Paperwhite ever since. Text is _that_ much crisper. I'm even considering to get a commercial font I really like--on that screen, it should be ridiculously beautiful.
Then, I never liked not being able to choose reading software on my eInk kindles. For me, the pre-canned Amazon experience feels rather basic. It works, but that's about the best thing I can say. On the other hand, unless I'm dreaming, my preferred reading app even has an algorithm to prevent widows and orphans. This sort of thing matters to me.All things combined: I'm really happy with my tablet. |

We've had 5 eInk readers in the house - 3 Kobos and 2 Sonys. While my partner loves her Glo, I recently picked up an Asus Memo Pad HD 7 to replace my Sony T1, and I'd never go back to any of the current eInk devices.
Positives? Ability to switch to night mode, huge variety of reader apps, versatility of a tablet, bright, clear screen, and bang for the buck ($159 list in Canada is great value for the features the Asus sports.) Downsides? Battery life and reading outdoors. Well worth the trade-off though, for my use. |

I have both an e-ink Kindle and a Nexus tablet (with the Kindle app). For me, the respective advantages are:
For the Kindle: 1. Lighter and more comfortable to hold. 2. Much better battery life. 3. Easier navigation (for example, the Back button does what you expect). For the Nexus: 1. Much better for pictures, charts, photos, etc (for that reason, I generally read magazines and reference books on the Nexus). 2. Faster page turns. In short, it's all pretty subjective. Everyone must make his or her own decision. Mike |

Since getting my Fire HDX 8.9 I've been using it (Moon+ Pro in conjunction with Calibre Companion) as my exclusive reader.

I have been using the same setup on my Nexus 7 (2013). I gave away my last Eink device a Sony PRS-950 to my son this week and won't be going back. |

As with others, I've started doing most of my reading on a Nexus 7. I haven't powered on my Kobo Touch in ages; the Nexus is just a great combination of readability and useability.

I've been reading a lot on my Nexus 7 as well (using Calibre Comanion and Mantano).
I still have my Kobo mini which is the lightest to take on the go. But I do not have all of my books on it. And I still love my Sony 650 and use it at times. |
