I used to think I was a genuis, but I'm alright now
Hello, my name is Mark, but I've been around since the dawn of time and have had the handle Scratch for years, but it soon got popular and used all over the place so I had to use variants.
Anyway, I'm like most folk who like toys, and although having years of computer knowledge and skill under the belt, it reached a point where I became a user instead of a programmer, or I guess what is known today as a developer. Thus, I have been returned to the womb of ignorance once again, but at least I still have the ability to follow instructions in layman terms. Yes, the tech speak has also changed over the years and everyone sounds foreign in the new techenese. I am here to learn. If I can toss in some odd little contributions in the way of stripping away excess garbage that manufactures feel they need to put in their products for the spiff and shine, I can do that. I do remember from being a programmer, of having clients asking me to have programs do all sorts of fancy dances. What could I say? It's their dime, but when they saw the size of the program, their eyes popped. Fine, they had to pay me more to size it down. My sympathy always goes with the programmer and or developer, not the manufacture end user site. It's hard to explain to them that I am ten steps ahead of what ever they have suggested, and it still isn't working. When I get the, "You likely have a corrupted computer." hand off. I know I am at the end of their ability to help. I can assure anyone, that there is no corruption on my computer, well something probably went missing, or somewhere along the line I managed to alter a preference or a parameter that over rode both my OS and my computer Original Equipment Manufacture default status. It just happens that way, when one gets over zealous removing software that was once a novelty, but just sits there with its fat load of memory eating ice cream, it's time to go. So, the removal process starts, and sometimes those sneaky characters have an attitude when you remove them and so they grab up some common drivers and such as you are kicking it out to the curb. Then finding reliable drivers is not always that easy. Some manufactures just won't give them up. Sorry, buy a new device. It was great when everything came with a disk. Oops sorry, I sorta ramble. Anyway, glad to be here. Last edited by scratchmb; 12-25-2013 at 01:56 AM. |
