Help? experimental browser stuck on google play store
I've just started using my first Kindle and am enjoying the e-ink experience. I thought of using the experimental browser to log into Pocket to read web articles and then.. Application Error and no way to get away from the Google Play store page..
After I tried logging into Pocket, the browser took me to Google store asking me to install the app... This didn't seem like a good idea so i tried to navigate away from Google store, but it was not possible... now browser crashes with Application Error [The selected application could not be started. Please try again.] every time i access the browser - kicking me back to the Kindle home screen. When I try going back into browser, I find it still trying to access the Google store, followed by Application Error.. I thought of clearing the browser cache but i do not have access to the menu (it is a blank frame) while browser is trying to load Google store. I also tried the long power button re-boot. But the browser adamantly remembers it's failed attempts at Google store and keeps trying to go there.. ugggh. I also tried attaching the Kindle to my Mac with USB to see if there was some way to delete browser cache manually, but only seem to have access to the Documents folder with my ebooks. At this point I could care less about Pocket accessibility and simply want to get the browser back to it's normal functionality. Is Settings > Reset Device my only hope? I'd like to avoid that if possible as i've already loaded several Personal books onto the device. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for the newbie question.. I searched the web and forums but could not find an answer. |

There are probably other ways, but:
1- turn off wireless (turn on airplane mode) 2- launch the browser, it will offer to turn wireless on. Cancel. 3- from the browser menu, select Bookmarks 4- pick any of them, for example, amazon.com 5- this time let it turn wireless on. it will go to the bookmarked web site. 6- now you can go somewhere else with the browser |

Next time this happens, just do a wikipedia search from the Home screen.
Hit the search button and change the search criteria from "My Items" to "Wikipedia". Then go to your bookmarks and have fun. |

TikiGawd - Thanks for the tip. I'm new to Kindle and quite happy with it. Still finding my way around it's idiosyncrasies though ~

The browser may work on a site, or it may not work. You can't contact Amazon for assistance, as the browser is not supported. Remember that this is the reason why the Kindle Browser is labeled experimental, or they would need to actually support it if it throws fits like this

If you do have to do a factory reset, there's a simple way to restore your stored items. They are all saved in a folder called Documents. You can see this if you connect your Kindle to a computer with the USB cable. Then you copy them to the computer, and you can copy them back to the Kindle after you do the factory reset, and they should be available again after you have re-registered your device.
