I'm using Windows XP, in Korea, so the OS is all in Korean. I keep getting Windows Installer errors, even after renaming all of the installer files and re-installing.
So, the million dollar question is this... Why am I forced to use the Windows Installer to install Calibre on my Windows PC? Why doesn't someone provide an .exe installation file, instead of the lousy .msi format, because that's the only thing preventing me from getting this installed... ![]() |

You can use the portable version, it is an exe. You can even copy the "Calibre" subfolder into Program files and perform a little mumbo-jumbo to get it into the Start Menu, then run C:\Program Files\Calibre\calibre.exe to get a just-as-good-as installed version which saves libraries to the non-portable locations.

Thanks a bunch.
Now even the content server is working, so I can sync to my Nexus 7. Very cool. I knew there had to be a way! |

I'm glad the portable version helped you out.

I've got the companion running. Love it.
But, what I'd really love is to have the ability to read the same book using EITHER my Nexus 7 or my Nexus phone...because I don't always have my tablet handy. Google Books manages this very nicely, but not all (wink) of my books were purchased from Google. So is there an app that will remember what page I last read on one device and automagically open to that page on my other device? Or is there a way to upload all of my library to Google Books and just let the Google Book Reader manage it? (I bet not...) |
