Alternative page count in viewer

I was wondering if there's a way to change how calibre shows the position/total length on the ebook viewer.
I'd like for it to count the "pages" using ADE's algorithm, as the Count Pages plugin does.

Then I'd be able to switch reading on my Sony PRST2 and on my computer more easily

I requested the enhancement but I know, it's a minor thing and probably it's not worth the time/effort required for the development.

Could someone here kindly point out a "best practice" for switching between an ADE reader and the calibre viewer without too much hassle?
Maybe I'm just putting a load of complexity in a matter where there shouldn't be any

Don't stop reading inside a chapter?

I use search. Just search for a distinctive word near where you are currently located. When moving from the calibre viewer to another viewer you can also make use of the fact that the calibre viewer shows you which chapter you are in currently in bold int he table of contents panel.
