how to change default dictionary to a newly downloaded one(e ink 6")

I am using the e-ink 6" kindle, the cheapest kindle. I downloaded a free mobi dictionary and transfer it to the documents folder via USB(There is no dictioaries folder there, only documents). When I open my kindle, the new dictionary is there but I cannot put it to the dictionaries folder anyway(There is no such option), and I can only choose a default dictionary from the dictionaries folder.

Any hint? Or it is just not possible to do that?

A book has to have special "tags" in it to be recognised by the Kindle as a dictionary. Where did you get this dictionary from? Is it really a dictionary, rather than a normal Kindle book?

There is no "dictionaries folder" on a Kindle. Dictionaries go into the "documents" folder, like any other book.

I just don't know how to change the "tag".

By "tag", Harry is talking about the HTML tags that have to be created within the dictionary. There is a lot of special formatting that goes into creating a Mobipocket format dictionary. If the dictionary does not show up as a choice under change default dictionary, then it is not seen as a dictionary by the Kindle.

Don't worry, dictionaries from that site look ok (a bit weird looking at opening: one word per page, I tried english-german). If you can set your new dictionary as default than everything is ok, just leave it in the document folder and use.
By the way, PW automatically puts all dictionaries in Dictionaries collection. This is normal, but this is not a folder, just a common tag attached to all dictionaries.

Have you actually tried setting the dictionary as your "primary dictionary"?

From the Home page, open the menu; go to Settings; then open the menu again, and sleect Change Primary Dictionary. If the item you purchased is really dictionary, you should see it in the resulting list. You then just have to select it.
