Editing book title corrupts file?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can shed some light into this problem:

I have an epub file that I want to edit the title of the book but for some reason after the edit, I am unable to download the book file once it has been edited.

Just to clarify, I have to upload my epub on to SkyDrive which then I download off of my app (Bookviser) on to my phone. If I just upload the epub as the original, I can download it fine but not after the edit.

It a book series so I'm trying to keep the names organized.

Thanks

Have you tried running the epub through epubcheck online?

It might point out how the epub is being changed.

Those are the 3 main types of errors I got.

Hmm, never mind... I ran the same thing with the original and I got similar error msgs.

Your original file is not valid.

Because Sigil alters the layout of the file to a certain structure it may be what's causing the epub to then not work in your reader.

Unless you want to completely redo the whole file making it valid, you may do better loading the epub into calibre, 'Tweak'ing it (extracts the files), edit by hand (changing your title) and then rebuild the epub. The resulting epub should be the same as your invalid one, with just the title changed (no structure change).

Or you may be able using calibre to send the book to the reader, or export it from calibre (Save to Disk), the metadata - including Title should get rewritten, you could then use that exported file to load into your reader.

Hope that all makes sense.

Either that or go back to the original file which was in some word processor format probably and try again to convert it using Calibre or other conversion program.
