Angry Exporting Calibre Booklist To Read On Android Phone/Tablet

I want to send my Calibre ebooklist to my nexus phone and tablet. So if I am out and about and see a book I want, I can check to see if I would have it already in Calibre
As have so many now unread I cannot remember.

I have been opening calibre, clicking arrow beside convert books, create a catalogue, CSV.
That works ok
I then used to open the file highlight the columns I wanted and clicked on A to Z sort and filter
I then copied and pasted into Microsoft Word, converted it to a pdf and sent it to both my phone and tablet

However now when I first open excel and highlight the columns and click a to z it says.. the command you chose cannot be performed with multiple selections, select a single range and click the command again.

It always worked before! Just want to sort a to z then add to word and save as pdf

Even thought about converting the csv ebooklist to epub in calibre but it wont let me do that either! Help needed please.

Instead of csv create your catalog in calibre as an Epub to begin with.

Thanks just tried that
What is the way to open the CSV and highlight the columns and press A to Z and it to work though?
I have always done that, then imported into Word, adjusted it if I need to and saved to pdf
But today it just wont let me highlight more than 1 column to a to z Grrrr

I just want to know for future reference

Just tried that It seemed to work as highlighted the 2 columns I wanted and enabled me to a to z them into perfect order
In the menu it said save as pdf But all it saved was the first column the authors
So no good
Also tried to save the a to z sorted excel file But it said I cant do that either So still stuck lol

So tried to import in Word, as I did before As your suggestion of Ctrl and A sorted them
But copy the highlighted test of column A and B only pasted Column A No Column B
Grr Whats happening?

use the CLI tools to create the CSV
http://manual.calibre-ebook.com/cli/...calibredb-list
you can choose fields and their sort (as well as many other options)

First install a PDF printer driver - I use one from Bullzip, there are others but they tend to nag. Use Google to find - this will allow you to 'print' a PDF file from any application

In excel 2007
  • click the top left corner cell - the one above the row number 1, ie the one with the triangle.
  • in Data click the Sort button (not the A-Z↑↓), now select the column(s) to sort on
  • print to your newly installed PDF printer (it will appear as a printer)

Have you tried repair/reinstall Excel from Control Panel->Programs and Features->Microsoft Office.

Have you tried a different CSV file, there's one here ==>> http://www.andrewpatton.com/countrylist.html

Damned annoying when things stop working - inexplicably

Repaired Excel as you said
Clicked Ctrl Al to highlight then A to Z

But what do I save it as?
It gives me different options

The first thing I'd do after creating the "catalog book" would be to save the CSV to my desktop. Now I can work on it independently of the calibre library
  • If I wanted to keep the sorted spreadsheet, I would save as XLSX (2007 and higher), or XLS (2003 and lower) to the desktop
  • If I wanted a PDF, I would create one on the desktop direct from Excel using my "Bullzip printer"
  • If I wanted to keep the PDF I would drop it on the "catalog book" Book Details in Calibre
  • If I wanted to keep the XLSX I would add it to the "catalog book" via calibre's Add file to selected book records (Shift/A) option.

Then I would delete whatever is on the the desktop, and if I added the XLSX to the "catalog book" then I'd remove the CSV - no point in keeping both of them.
