Date Format

I know that I can add line to the recipe for the date format, e.g.:
timefmt = ' [%Y-%m-%d %a]'
Is there a way to set the default date format globally?

No, there isn't. date fmt is recipe specific since many periodicals have different release schedules, some daily, some weekly, some monthly and so on.
