Calibre 1.13 - Output profile not being respected?
Hi Kovid,
Is there a bug in the latest 1.13 regarding output profiles? I have my output profile set to "tablet", which should not resize images, but when I convert a Mobi book that contains images of around 60-80k in size to ePub, the images in the output ePub book have all been shrunk to about 20k in size, which drastically reduces their quality. Please find attached a (public domain) Mobi book, and the resulting ePub conversion from Calibre. As you see, the input file was around 2MB in size, but the converted ePub is only 940k, due to the images having been reduced in size. How do I prevent this reduction in image size from occurring, please? Setting the output profile to "tablet" is supposed to do this, but it doesn't appear to be working. Thanks! |

I see no size reduction in the images, use tweak book to verify it for yourself. In fact all the images in the original mobi are small enough that they would not be resized even without the tablet profile.
Here are the dimensions of the image in Emma.mobi Code:

Thanks - I recreated the original book using "Kindlegen" rather than the old "Mobi Creator" and now all is well (Calibre gives me a 1.9M ePub with correctly-sized images). I don't know what happened there - Mobi Creator doesn't generally mess with image sizes.
Appreciate the help. |
