Only option to save Adobe PDF....HTML Chrome?
Hello, all.
Another question from a decidedly non-techie type. Well, first of all I bought an ebook, didn't realize it would be an Adobe DRM PDF until after purchase; my own fault, of course. With an 80% coupon, too. ![]() Now, when trying to open/save the book, the only only option given by my computer is to save as an HTML Chrome Document. This regardless of whether I'm using Google Chrome or Internet Explorer. ??? |

So, do you have ADE on your computer? Is it authorized? Was the original download a .acsm file? Can you locate that file on your computer and try opening it with ADE? If nothing else, try going to the Adobe sample download page ( http://www.adobe.com/ca/products/dig...ons/eBook.html and try downloading one of those ebooks. You should be given a URLLink.acsm file and asked what to open it with with ADE as the default. I've attached a sample of what I see when I connect through Nightly. Regards, David |

Hello! Yes, I do have ADE on my computer, and it is authorized. And the original download was not .acsm file. When at "My Library" at the Kobo website, you see the blue button to the right to download. I do a right click, click on "save link as..." and then my computer only shows one option: Chrome HTML Document.
Even weirder...I went to an older pdf I had purchased from Kobo, and the same thing is going on there, too.... I'll try going to the Adobe sample download page next... ETA a few minutes later... I went to the Adobe sample download page...and I get the usual acsm file option...and then it goes to my Sony desktop. Yeah, it's convoluted. Oh - and in Sony desktop is tells me the file may be corrupted. (this from an Adobe sample download). Weird. Last edited by beautifulsoup; 11-23-2013 at 10:02 PM. |

I could be completely wrong, but somewhere in the back of my brain I remember seeing this before. I *think* the answer was to rename the file after you downloaded it to a .ascm extension and then use ADE to open/download it.

Guess what! I've called customer care - and they get the same issue on their side. Egad. This is supposedly an issue they didn't know about. Until me, haha.
So, I'm taking a credit. |
