Any reader that will let me see the text of notes in the margin?

I apologize if this has been covered elsewhere, but a search turned up nothing that I could find.

I'm taking a lot of notes in books for a class I'm teaching this summer, and it would be a real boon if I could actually *see* the text of the notes in the margin next to where I noted it, rather than in a little popup box that I have to tap on ... basically, just like you would see notes in a real book. I can't seem to do this in the Kindle reading app for Android that I use.

Is there a reader that will allow me to see book text and note text at the same time? I really appreciate your recommendations.

Check out iAnnotate PDF, see if it does what you need. Goodreader on the iPad is great too, but I'm not sure if it has an Android version.

As Meera said, an iPad with iAnnotate is still the best option.

If you want eink, SONYs can do what you ask.

Actually, if the OP is otherwise happy with their device, I reckon they should probably try the free Android version of iAnnotate before forking out for an iPad.

Thanks so much for the replies. iAnnotate might work for me if (A) I was using PDFs (which I could switch to) and (B) if I was reading on a better device. Right now I'm just using my phone, which is not really the resolution you want for this kind of thing I've sort of been thinking about switching up, but it's not in my budget right now.

If there are any other recommendations, I'll take a look!

Perhaps you could share, then, what format you _are_ using?

Did I misunderstood 'a reader'? Is the OP looking for software to use on Android, or devices?

The OP lists their device as "Kindle reader for Android", so I took their use of "reader" to mean "app".

Indeed, I am using the Kindle app on my Android (Nexus 4) phone.

Most of my books are whatever format one gets from Amazon (.azw or .kf8, I guess). I have some PDFs, but those are harder to read comfortably on the small screen.

I really do appreciate your help!
