Low priced fantasy please?

Hi there,
I was wondering whether anyone could give me some pointers on fantasy authors who don't cost too much. The criteria are as follows:

1. Has to be well written, and well edited.

2. Would be good if it is similar to David Gemmell, James Barclay, Paul Kearney, Jim Butcher(Codex Alera), Brandon Sanderson, Glen Cook, Brent Weeks, Pete V. Brett, etc. Basically, lots of military action, but not essential, along with good character development and a gripping plot.

3. Would be nice if it was part of a series, but not essential.

4. Doesn't cost more than £3.99

If anyone could help that would be good.

The Gallow series by Nathan Hawke looks like it might be good. I've only read the first one so far, but I enjoyed it. A definite David Gemmell vibe, and I think the ebooks were £3.99 when I last looked.

David Dalglish.

The Half-Orcs
Very DnD TT RPG for the magic system and overall feel. The first book has some first-time indie author pain which may fail criteria #1, but is free. Books 1-5 are in an extremely inexpensive bundle.

Shadowdance Trilogy
Haven't read it yet but there was a 99-cents for the trilogy deal at one time that could come around again one day. Spin off from the above.

No links since I'm in the US and don't know the good UK indie author sites.
Second vote for the Baen library -- David Weber's Oath of Swords comes to mind.

David Dalglish has revised and done some changes to the Shadowdance trilogy after signing a deal with Orbit. http://ddalglish.com/wp/blog/ On the upside, good for him to sign with a major publisher, on the downside, the pricing on that trilogy has changed significantly higher.

Blood Song by Anthony Ryan

Price: free
Commercially published with rave reviews on Goodreads.

and here
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...88#post2477188
is a post about monster fantasy series with about 9000 pages
Price: free

Another interesting and free fantasy is Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson.
The downside is that you have to download pdf if you want to have the final edited and commercially published version.
http://brandonsanderson.com/books/wa...and-downloads/
On the other hand you can compare various version - this can be very interesting view into the kitchen of a famous fantasy writer.

I just finished reading the Sean Russell Swan's War trilogy and thought it was great. All three books are on sale at Amazon for $.99 each. Here's a link to the first book: http://www.amazon.com/One-Kingdom-Bo...s=swan%27s+war

Also, the first book in M. Edward McNally's Norothan Cycle is free from Amazon and is excellent: http://www.amazon.com/Sable-City-Nor...edward+mcnally

The other books in the series are $4.99 each and are well-worth the price.

David Weber's Oath of Swords fits all of your criteria. It's in the Baen Free Library. The Wind Rider CD that can be downloaded for free from here has that and two more books from the series, The War God's Own and Windrider's Oath.

If you start digging through the Baen stuff, anything by Mercedes Lackey or Roberta Gellis is good if you're not turned off by occasional romance. The two often collaborate and the This Scepter'd Isle CD has several from each author. If you find yourself liking Mercedes Lackey, her 500 Kingdoms series of books is good and is eligible for coupon codes at Kobo.

Eric Flint's 1632 series is really good if you enjoy European military history and his Mother of Demons (on the 1635: The Eastern Front CD) is a fantastic standalone (technically SF, but a very military fantasy-type plot).

The Gauntlet Thrown by Cheryl Dyson and Xina Marie Uhl is an indie that I quite enjoyed. There are occasional grammatical errors and the formatting is a little amateurish, but nothing too distracting. It's free at Amazon, B&N and Kobo. I've only read the first book, so I can't comment on the rest.

Sora's Quest by T. L. Shreffler is another free indie that I liked, but Viper's Creed (the second in the series) was so awful that I didn't bother buying the third. I suggest reading Sora's Quest and pretending that it's a standalone novel.

I enjoyed the novels by Dalglish mentioned earlier, so consider that nomination seconded.

I'm also going to have to nominate Dave Dalglish, his stuff brings me right back to reading Dragonlance novels as a kid.
