Anyone using the Amazon app on Ipad

Being new to the world of Ipad I recently discovered an Amazon app in the app store. At which point I stopped and started pondering a few questions which I hope some of you savvy people could help me with:

- Does this app mean I got the same access on my Ipad as I would if I had a Kindle, as in access to the entire Amazon content I would have on a Kindle ?

- If so, do you guys pay those Amazon e-books on the Ipad with Itunes credit right ? I mean as opposed to needing credit on the amazon store itself as you would if you use a Kindle or Must I put credit on Amazon itself to buy on the Ipad ?

- Does this mean the Ipad can read .mobi or .azw and if not, does it mean I can only read those e-books on the Amazon app and NOT on, say Ibooks or Marvin, OR those Amazon e-books are in epub ?

Thanks for any help on this

The app doesn't actually allow you to buy Kindle ebooks (or any digital content, I believe). However, there is a separate Kindle app that gives you access to your purchased Kindle books.

Nope. Can't pay for stuff using iTunes credit. You'd need to have a credit card or some gift cards on file with Amazon. Again, the Amazon app is for purchase of physical goods - not digital ones.

Again, you need the Kindle app for iOS to read your Kindle ebooks. You'd need to disinfect and convert to epub if you want to open them in Marvin or iBooks.

Oh I see. I guess I got my hopes up for nothing then.
Too bad cause it would have been cool if one could have had access to Amazon's digital content on an Ipad

Thanks for the useful info

I believe you do have that access. Definitely all the books, and if they are without DRM, you can read them in any e-reader app of your choice.

Again, there's a Kindle app available for reading Kindle ebooks. There's also an Amazon MP3 app for listening to purchased music. Sure, you can't buy digital content from within the Amazon app but you can always use Safari or any other web browser to access the Amazon webpage and make your digital content purchases.

In the App Store do a search for AMZN Mobile LLC. That will show you the apps made by Amazon. You do have access to your book, musics and videos. Each one is a different app. ilovejedd is trying to explain that you can't purchase any content from within the Amazon apps. You can only view past purchases. You have to purchase new content through the amazon.com website in a web browser. That can be done using Safari on your iPad.

Apple wants to make it inconvenient to purchase from Amazon so you'll buy from them instead.

I use the amazon kindle app on my iPad and am able to continue where I left off reading on my kindle. I manage my kindle books at amazon.com, not through the app. I love the ability to use my kindle books and iBooks both on my iPad. It's the best of both worlds!

The reason Amazon won't allow in-app purchasing is because Apple takes 30% of all such sales.
