Amazon Kindles are 15% off today, 11/4/2013

Amazon is running a promotion to celebrate the FAA's change in regulation. The Basic Kindle and Kindle Fires are on sale for 15% off.

Just thought I would let people know.

Dang been sitting on the fence maybe I'll have to jump off today and grab a PW or maybe wait and see what they do for black Friday or cyber Monday. What to do ..

You enter the code and then you get the 15%. The price does not show without the code.

Tried the code prior to posting, it says "The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase."

Also, on the front page, it clearly states it's good on the $79 Kindle, the Fire HD, and the Fire HDX.

I sure was hoping it would work on the PW!

It appears the PW2 is not included. I just tried the code on one and got a message that the code did not apply. The intro site does show the basic Kindle on Sale and the Fires. Interesting....

I editted the original post to reflect what is on sale. Sorry

I suggest calling Amazon and telling them that if this 15% is not applied to the PW2, you'll buy a Kobo. maybe they'll give you the 15% off in that case.

Seriously? I doubt Amazon, or any serious company, would be swayed by tantrums. And I doubt anyone that wants a PW2 will switch to Kobo as a result.

LOL, they don't care. That's like saying to Apple you're going to buy a DELL if they don't price match their $1,299 MacBook Pros to $499 Windows powered machines.

Kinda sad about the PW2 not being included too.

I think many people forget that Amazon, and others, are selling readers at cost, to make money on content. They are retailers that use technology to drive sales, not the other way around.

"All versions" in that instance means with and without special offers, and (for the Fire models) all storage sizes and connectivity types. Confusingly enough, in current Amazon lingo "Kindle" as a product name by itself means only that most basic model. If the offer was meant to include the Paperwhite, it would say "all versions of Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Fire HD 7'', etc."

Nice sale, but I think we'll see better prices during Black Friday. I wouldn't be surprised to see Amazon offer a $99 Fire HD. That's just another $19 off today's deal. And $49 for the basic Kindle (that's what I paid for mine last year).

But hey, just speculation on my part
