Does the Kindle app work in OS X Mavericks?
I use the Kindle app all the time in Lion. Does it still work in Mavericks?

To import Kindle eBooks into Calibre you need a way to put them on your Mac, and the Kindle app is the only way to do it. Had you asked the real question that you wanted an answer to then it would not have been moved. If you want the right answer it is important to ask the right question.
