Printing all or part of an EPUB/MOBI?
I have a couple of EPUBs that I would like to print just a few pages out of (knitting pattern books). I have the latest version of Calibre (1.6), but it is glaringly apparent that Calibre is for organizing and converting, not reading or printing. No offense to Kovid, but he's a coder, and he thinks like one, not like a user. That's why the manual is so incomprehensible.
I tried to install a EPUB reader for a browser (Readium, for Chrome), but as the person whom I am doing this for isn't a Google Store account holder (and doesn't wish to be to download one lousy extension), I can't get the CRX file to install. So, another route blocked. Is there an app or something available to print a lousy few pages out of an EPUB or MOBI book that I missed here? It HAS to be simple, for an older person who isn't tech savvy to deal with - minimal or no converting between formats, no coding, etc. I've been trying to get this done for over four hours now and I'm getting ticked off and frustrated, and I've made no progress. Why is this so difficult? I know these are "eBooks", but this is not an unusual thing to wish to do, and it seems to me that someone must have developed a simple way to do this by now - one I'm just not seeing. Please help! |

Actually, you can use Calibre to print. View the eBook in the Calibre viewer. On the toolbar on the left side of the viewer window is a print icon that also includes print preview.

I see - It is so far down that the bottom of the viewer gets cut off by the monitor(s). I'll try it. Thanks!

It seems to work (better than nothing), but I would prefer a way to make the toolbar buttons more visible. Also, the pagination between viewing it in the EPUB viewer and the "print preview" isn't the same, so you have to manually flip through each page to find the pages you need to print. Annoying, but livable. Looks a lot like a quick-and-dirty PDF auto-conversion to me.

If you can be bothered to install Firefox, there's an extension for it named EPUBreader. That ought to enable you to print the pages, although whether or not the result will be better than with Calibre I've no idea.

Open the ePub with your zip file reader and then open the html page in whatever browser you like and print from there. No plugins required.
