Dealing with "state" files (mbp, pdr, ...)
Hello!
As per my intro, I have a big library of e-books on my hard-drive; some PDFs, some mobis, some rars, some azws transferred from my (now unavailable) Kindle. And most of the ones I've read have state files associated with them (mbp - mobi; pdr - PDF; etc) that include the page I'm at, the highlights, and so on. Now I'm only interested in retrieving the highlights and copying them down, so that I can later use these excerpts as refreshers, to write reviews, or as a convenient means of research. How do you go about opening these files, and copying those excerpts as some kind of text? Thanks in advance! PS. Caliber doesn't appear to be capable of opening state files, though I'm new to that software so can't tell really. |

Anyone? Is it possible to open the state files (mbp, pdr, etc) so as to get access to your highlights for each book?
Thanks. |

I'm not familiar with any state files except mbp but you can still download Mobipocket Reader which will give you access to those files. I have no idea how you would convert them though-if it's only a few then I'd open each one then copy/paste the info to another document. http://www.mobipocket.com/en/downloa...ailsreader.asp

Thanks. I would like to try out this Mobipocket Reader, but there's only one problem: When I click the "Download" hyperlink, this shows up:

Sorry about that. I didn't actually do the download, just saw that the website said it was available. Try downloading from Softpedia-I went all the way through that & it works from there. http://www.softpedia.com/get/Others/...t-Reader.shtml

If you made the highlights on a Kindle, your highlights should be available at kindle.amazon.com.

Thanks for the link, calvin. I will explore Mobireader.
Susan, thank you, but I'm aware of that feature. It has two problems: (1) Highlights are only available in order of the last books one updated; (2) It doesn't display annototations for books not bought from Amazon. I would very much like to find a better alternative. |
