Paperwhite Page Count Method
The Paperwhite can display page numbers and I wonder which count method it uses. Ist it the normale ADE (Adobe 1024 byte) method? I want to read books with my android smartphone for example with the Aldiko Reader beside the paperwhite so I want to jump to the actual position. I don't want to use the Amazon Syncronisation for Android.

No, it's not the ADE method. Kindle book page numbers use a separate "page map" file which assigns page numbers to locations in the eBook, generally corresponding to page numbers in a specific paper edition of the book.

Ok and when I convert a epub in mobi or KF8 will this map be created or will there be a default like in ADE when there is no page map?
Ist there a chance to get on an android reading app the same page numbering like on the kindle paperwhite (without amazon sync)? Last edited by marcl; 10-09-2013 at 05:35 AM. |

If you convert a book in Calibre, Calibre will generate "fake" page numbers for you using a method similar to the ADE method. If you buy a book from Amazon, it will have "real" page numbers (the page numbers are stored in the auxiliary ".apnx" file).

Is it possible to generate the same "fake" page numbers for the epub so I can open it with for sample the Aldiko App (or another) with the same numbering? Or are there Android Reading Apps that can read the generated mobi/KF8 files with the generated "fake" page numbers as the Kindle? Effect should be: Same page numbering in Kindle PW and Android Reading App. |

No idea. Suggest you ask on the Calibre forum.
