Possibility of retrofitting 3G to PW

I broke the screen on my beloved Kindle 3 (keyboard) today, so I am in the market for a paperwhite. I know, I am going to miss the hardware buttons but time has marched on.

So, given that I have a broken 3rd gen Kindle with 3G, does anyone know if its possible to remove the 3G module from it and install it into a paperwhite to save myself £60? Would be a fairly cool hack if it were possible.

Be a lot simpler to change the screen in the K3...

Otherwise I doubt transplanting the 3G module is going to be feasible

Amazon tells me that this is not possible there is some hardware that needs to be added to make this happen.

Thanks guys. Took the kindle apart and I can see the SIM card holder is actually soldered onto the main board so it's not a standalone 3G module.

Looking at getting a replacement screen now. Only £22 or so from China - at that price it's worth doing.
