What physical Kindle does Kindle for PC emulate?

Hi, all.

I need to test an ebook I'm working with on a Kindle 3. I had two, but both of them died.

It doesn't appear that the Kindle Previewer includes this device (unless it's equivalent is either the Kindle Paperwhite or DX).

So I'm hoping that Kindle for PC -- not Previewer -- is a dependable replacement for a Kindle 3 with actual buttons.

Does anyone know about this? Or maybe someone has another solution?

Thanks!

The Kindle for PC and Mac apps do NOT emulate any physical eInk Kindle. They merely display an eBook on your computer. The Kindle Previewer is the only app that attempts to emulate Kindles and Fires, though it doesn't always do that well. The Kindle 3 and the Kindle Paperwhite should look similar enough to use the Previewer set to Paperwhite. However, the Paperwhite has a higher resolution screen than the Kindle 3.

Hi, that's very useful information. I had no idea the computer-based Kindle versions were laws unto themselves.

Thanks a lot.
