Aura HD - can't place order?

I decided to order another Aura HD. First with Chrome, I get a "redirect loop" error. Then with IE, I'm able to get to the checkout page, but clicking "place order now", it just spins forever. Tried again with Firefox, same as with IE.

I know my card has not been charged since I can check that right away.

My order for the first Aura HD went through about 3 weeks ago, and I recently bought an ebook, so this is a new problem.

I was having the same problem all day, even contacted customer "help" twice about it (but they had no idea). FINALLY I was able to place my order, but to do so I had to create a new account (using a different email address) and order from that one. Very strange....

Wow, thanks, that worked. I guess I needed to fake my identity in order for Kobo to take my money. Nice business model.

At first I found Kobo to be amateurish and clumsy. But I think it's worse than that. I'll just take my device and hope to avoid any further interaction with them.

For what it's worth, I've never had a problem ordering or with the books I've ordered from them :-) .

It's finally here!

Well, my Aura HD finally arrived! (took the scenic route, Missauga, ON to Cincinnati, Ohio via Chicago...). Haven't had a chance to do much with it yet, other than update the firmware and load my books, but I did take a quick peek at one of my camping books and I must say the sharpness and resolution of the screen, combined with the ability to enlarge pictures makes the reader a joy to use when looking at maps that feature fine details.

I was also pleased to discover that the reader is smaller in person than I'd imagined...it doesn't feel that much larger than my old Kobo wifi, even though the screen is larger. The angled rear really does make holding it comfortable as well. So far I'm very pleased...it is indeed the Cadillac of e-ink readers!

You might want to be sure and "connect" to your PC with your USB cable and copy the contents of the KOBOreader drive to a folder on your PC. That will give you a backup of the initial condition of all your files and programs, especially including the "KoboReader.sqlite" file. You will then be able to fix a lot of problems that otherwise might require a factory restore.

If you are adventurous, you can make and keep a clone image of the internal uSD card and/or upgrade the uSD card to a larger, up to 32GB, for sure. To do so you will need to open the case.

Luck;
Ken
