Amazon said to plan free top-end smartphone

This is about smartphones rather than eBook readers, but here's a Wall Street Journal reporter who says on her blog that Amazon is considering giving away its smartphone and making its profit selling apps.

They're too late for me. A Kindle phone would've been a definite contender. But with the recent price cut on the Nexus 4, I jumped on it and won't consider an upgrade for a few years now.
