At this moment, the Paperwhite cannot be purchased from Amazon anymore - except used.

The Kindle Paperwhite was introduced sept 6, 2012 for shipment in early october.
Based on that, I'll go with "sometime this month".

It appears that only the paperwhite with wifi and special offers is no longer available. What is odd is that there are two pages for the paperwhite with wifi (no special offers), one page where only used paperwhites can be bought and one where one can buy it new for $139.

While I do believe Amazon will offer their next generation of ereaders and tablets this month, a lot of funky things have been going on with their paperwhite sales pages and availability over the last month. I wouldn't read too much into this. But I voted "sometime this month."

The only Kindle Paperwhite I see on the web site is the 3G model. All other mention of the WiFi only model has been removed. So, my guess would be they don't plan on announcing a new one any time soon.

I find that rather strange too. When you click the Compare Kindles it compares the Paperwhite 3G, Kindle and Kindle Keyboard 3G.

The PW wifi vanished from the uk site for a few days last week. Its back now, but says it might take an extra 2 days to deliver. Most likely a supply problem, but only Amazon know for sure...

I voted for sometime this month, but that does include "within seven days" too. I'm curious to see what Amazon comes up with, and -- if unlike Kobo and Sony -- they offer something more innovative. Though personally, and unexpectedly, I find myself entirely in love with the new Nexus 7 and currently use it as my primary reader.

I'd like to see a refreshed 6" PW with 1080 screen and more consistent light guide - I think that's fair enough given the updated screens that are available and the acknowledged (minor) deficiency of the original light guide. But if I knew for certain they had no plans to refresh it this year, I would buy the existing PW without hesitation - I'm currently still using my Sony PRS-300 (and still love it, but I'm ready to upgrade). If they were to offer a 6.8" or 9.7" version (Kindle Paperwhite DX?) I would give those strong consideration. Anyway, I chose "sometime this month" - more wishful thinking than anything else!

Now that is something I'd buy in a flash, especially if they used the 2400x1650 9.7" screen... Í kove my new Aura HD, and the screen & frontlight have spoiled me rotten, but after a Kindle DX it's still kinda small . I'd love me a high-res DX Paperwhite.
