Why did Kobo remove PayPal Option?

It seems Kobo no longer accepts PayPal!

There is a new checkout process and the PayPal option is gone!
If anyone hears why I would love to know!

I also don't like how we now have to navigate to our Library to download the book we just brought.

Please Kobo give us back PayPal!

Is that on the Kobo app or website? I just logged into the website and see PayPal as a payment option.

Yep that is what I get when I log in and buy a book a entirely new checkout process. It's now a 3 Step process on one page. First you enter Payment CC and then the next step drops down for Codes and submit button.

Me too! I suspect only a few of us have the new screen. Maybe they are rolling it out in batches. Someone on Kobo codes thread today saw it first so when someone sent me a 75% off coupon I went to use it. I log in and saw there was no PayPal and we had a whole new checkout process!

I have not noticed this yet, but I have noticed when browsing books that a lot are currently missing, for instance if I go to ebooks>military>world war one it only shows 68 books on the uk site & 69 on the US. Whereas yesterday when I checked it showed over 700 on either site.

It is the same with the Sports>Motorsports it is only listing 20 books maximum.

However I have just tried downloading a book I had bought that is not showing and that seems to download fine.

I hope Kobo get this fixed soon.

I must still be getting the old website because my checkout looks completely different to yours.

if your using Windows make sure that no content is filtered for that site. By default its all filtered to protect you , so you kinda have to tell windows its ok to access it. That is generally all you will need to do to see your beloved Pay pal. In the address bar of the windows explorer there is a small circle with a line through it from top left to bottom right, located between the search and refresh icons, click on that and you should be right as rain.

I don't use IE. I use Firefox and Chrome. The PayPal option is back as I now have the old checkout version when I log in. Some are reporting the new version and it now has PayPal so hopefully all is fixed now!

I hope they don't ditch PayPal as that's the only payment option that works for me on Kobo's site! For some reason Kobo doesn't like my credit card, even though the same credit card works fine on PayPal.

PayPal is still there for me. If they want to keep getting money from me, they better keep it there, too. If I wanted to use a credit card, I'd shop at Amazon. Accepting PayPal is one of the redeeming features of Kobobooks to make up for the otherwise somewhat lacking shopping experience.

Blossom, did you drop their customer support a note?

No because it was fixed shortly after I posted the thread. but there was a whole day some didn't have access to PayPal.

Ah sorry, I had missed that! Glad it's back for you, and that it's not a permanent change. Big relief.
