Can I change....

I prefer to keep my books stored on an external hard drive and my my internal computer drive. How can I change this? Sorry for the stupid questions but I am a novice in this.

Shut down Calibre. Move your entire Calibre library folder to the external drive. Restart Calibre.

If you're using Windows, make sure you the "Disk Management" tool to assign the external drive a fixed drive letter so it's the same every time you plug in the drive (I have mine as drive "L:" for "Library").

Thanks but that did not work. After moving and restarting Calibre all books were gone.

Click the arrow alongside the library toolbar button and open the library on the external drive.

Follow Harrys advice, Create Switch: Use Existing, (Navigate to the new location)

Thanks for the help, but I have just enough computer/tech knowledge to get myself in trouble and screw something up. I honestly do not understand what either of you all are trying to tell me.

Sorry put me on a tractor planting corn and I can tell you anything you need but with a computer/programs I am a novice.
