Aura HD problems
Twice in the last few days my Aura has become unresponsive while reading. Everything's going fine, then suddenly the page won't turn...it freezes for no apparent reason. Trying to put it to sleep or turn it off does nothing, the paperclip trick does nothing, so I reset to factory defaults and it lasted a couple days, but this morning it stopped working again. I had to use the paperclip again but yet again even that didn't work. Left it plugged in a couple hours and it rebooted. It sat here all day and tonight I picked it up to read. It's in a Kobo sleep cover, and it was sleeping with the book cover showing when I opened the cover. It woke and was on the home page, I tapped the book I wanted to read, the book opened...and I couldn't turn the page. Holding the power button makes the screen go white. Paperclip got it to act like it was booting, but it got stuck on the fourth square.
Firmware is 2 8.1. Is it time to call customer service or have I overlooked something? It has no memory card installed and about 250 books on the device. Anyone have any ideas? |

Is this all happening with the same book? Different books? Are they kePubs, ePubs or kePub.ePubs (or various formats)?
I recently had a problem where whatever book I had been reading and then performed a sync would open to a blank page (with only page info showing) and lock up the device, but any other book would work just fine. |

There are epubs on the device that I bought from Books on Board before they folded (loaded from ADE on my PC) but these were both kepubs. (They're listed as Kobo epubs and were downloaded from the Kobo server during a sync). One of them I just bought this morning. Now that you mention it both times were after a sync.

I just put it aside and used another reader. Less than 1/2 hour it was fine again except the book had lost its place and said unread. I found the place because I was ble to note it when it was frozen, and continued the book with no more problems. It was the exact same place, same words at top of page etc. SO I cannot see it as a faulty book. Helen |

Mine too, Brian. Totally frozen. Happened again two times since I posted the first message. I know I won't be taking the Aura as my only reader on any trips. It has never come back once from this state without being plugged in...being stuck on a 4 hour flight without anything to read would be a nightmare. Resetting to factory defaults every few days is not a viable option.

I would definitely call customer service. Mine has never had a problem booting with no SD card. Might not be relate, but sounds like you have a faulty unit.

Very doubtful that its a faulty unit... it happens to too many units to be that. Most likely its again the crappy coding that Kobo Coders have wrought on us. perhaps they work for the Amazon Kindle project and are secretly sabotaging the competition.
