Kobo & Kobo desktop reader for windows
Hi guys Not sure y i went to Kobo's web site and purchased a ebook that I want to read on my Nook. Anyway I installed Kobo's desktop reader and found where the file was downloaded to (I think) the file name is just a bunch on No's and letters with no extension (8a947169-9805-4a4e-82d3-flcc47400587) I was planning on using a program to convert it to read on my Nook. Any thoughts on how to do this now I found the file in this directory (C-users-me-AppData-Local-Kobo-KoboDesktop Edition-kepub-file name)
Thanks |

You are looking at the kepub version of the book. You need the ePub. When you look at the book online in your library, it should have a button for "ADOBE DRM EPUB" or "DOWNLOAD EPUB". Press that to download the ePub.

The Adobe DRM from Kobo, Google Play, Sony (and many other places) is different from the DRM schemes for Nook, iBook, and Kindle. Each of them has their own proprietary encoding. If you are using a Nook with its DRM scheme already, you will not be able to use the "other" one too with the ADE software (and yes I know that this is theoretically not an issue, but it simply doesn't work). That is one reason why people remove DRM from books before loading them onto their readers.
Talking about DRM removal is not allowed here, but a google search on Apprentice Alf will help you out. |

The free book may be DRM free, but as an epub, it can be opened in ADE. Can you share the name of the book?

I've found that Sony Reader for PC is the most reliable program for downloading all epub books into.
Download it (google it) and then when you've got it set up go back to your Kobo account and again download the epub - but save it to Reader for PC. Then after it's successful download (open it and have a look) go to Calibre and import it into that. Good luck! ![]() |

ADE works with both B&N style and "regular" Adobe Adept DRM and you can use it with both, it's not a one or the other proposition. |

People have been stomping their feet about this for a very long time saying that book sellers/device manufacturers could elect to have both live on their devices. It hasn't happened yet and I would not hold my breath waiting to have it happen in the future. |
