Calibre Update problem 0.9.37

Hi
i have been trying to update Calibre for a week or two now without apparrent success from 0.9.13
I am on WIndows 7.
The update msi runs fine but the version stays stuck at 9.13 and keeps reminding me to upgrade!
All seem fine otherwise but I don't want to get left behind and I have some useful plugins as well as about 650 books I don't want to get messed up by uninstalling and reinstalling
If I run the upgrade again i get the "repair etc" screen but repairing doesn't seem to cause it to upgrade either
All help gratefully received asI am at my wits end and am reluctant to reinstall for fear of mucking up.
Library duplicated to NAS incidentally for backup

Do you by any chance have an asterisk following the version number that is displayed? If so that means at some point you set yourself up to run from source and that is taking precedence over the binary install.

If you do not then I would suggest you completely uninstall Calibre; check you do not still have another copy installed elsewhere; and then install it again. The uninstall leaves all your Calibre settings and libraries intact so they will still be there when you re-install

Are you sure that you are shutting calibre down and not just leaving it running in the Wndows system tray?

By any chance are you installing the 32bit version and running the 64 bit version?

perhaps you should do a fresh install uninstall calibre and rename the calibre config directory first). Set a restore point and if the install fails you can always restore.
