Calibre 0.9.37 - error mailing books to my kindle paperwhite

i upgraded a couple days ago to the newest version of Calibre... and now get this when trying to email from calibre to my kindle:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\wizard\send_email.py", line 173, in test_email_settings
File "site-packages\calibre\utils\smtp.py", line 108, in sendmail
File "site-packages\calibre\utils\smtplib.py", line 639, in starttls
SMTPException: STARTTLS extension not supported by server.

Log:

any feedback or suggestions to fix this?

AFAIK nothing has changed with calibre. Maybe your ISP did somethin.

Anyway you can set your Mail Encryption prefernce to None
Preferences: Sharing: E-mail <account?> the setting is near the bottom

thanks for the suggestion... it worked. maybe the newest update has the encryption defaulted to something other than 'none'?

in any case, appreciate the quick feedback.

New versions do not change existing settings (which is also why you need to add Icons to the Toolbar and other things)
Saving configuration settings 'burps' do happen

I'm in the same boat...any ideas? I did reset the above mentioned setting to 'none' and still got this message:

My calibre library says it's .5mb. Weird!

Remember; when attachments are sent they are encoded in purely displayable characters, so yes; an attachment will need more characters to send than it's actual size.

Hmm.. a complete wild guess, but I know that at one point a while back, my email service required that emails be encrypted because it prevented their service from accepting every spoofed email injected into their net.

The whole process amounted to setting a flag in my email client. Never noticed the issue thereafter.

Perhaps you've encountered something similar?
