Available in Stores?

I clicked on "Find a Retailer" on the Aura HD page (I live in the U.S.), and there is now a link for "Independent Booksellers". Clicking on the link brings up a blank page. I looked online at Powels and didn't see anything, and looked at my local "independent bookseller" site and didn't see anything. Is the Aura HD now available at any B&M stores in the U.S., or is it a Kobo website glitch?

They also added a 360 view for the Aura HD on the Kobo site.

Thanks.

Yeah, sounds like the ABA will have Auras available. Good news for our US contingent.

I called a local independent book store in St. Louis where I had previously purchased a Glo and asked if they were going to carry the Aura. I was told yes but they did not expect to have stock before the second week of July.

I would be wary of buying from them.

I sent off an email 4 days ago to ask if they actually had these in stock and if there were any other colors they sold, even though only one color was listed on their site.

THEY NEVER RETURNED MY EMAIL.

So what? Pick up the phone. Not every company is good about answering email. And I say this as someone who is never disconnected. It is simply a fact.

Your all caps on that line is hysterical. Am I supposed to hear "dun dun dun" over an email that wasn't answered? Ridiculous. The story of the founding of Greenlight was even covered in the New York Tines: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/19/ny...city.html?_r=0

Note: I have nothing to do with Greenlight, never even shopped there, but had to answer this post.

If you want to know if they have something in stock why not call them instead of assuming they're trying to shaft you ferchrissakes?

Maybe because it's not easy to find the time during their business hours? Maybe because he doesn't have an inexpensive way to call from Peru?

If they don't want to use email as a way of contact and aren't going to answer in a reasonable amount of time then they shouldn't offer it as a contact method.

Is it possible the email went astray? Here's a news flash for you: emails do get lost in the ether, or erroneously moved to a spam folder, etc. in case you haven't noticed, technology isn't perfect. BTW, I feel certain Skype works from Peru or anywhere else.

Sure, but as a rule of thumb I don't find it unreasonable to rule somebody out if they are slow in replying for whatever reason. If they can't be bothered/don't find the time/lose their emails/have a too efficient junk mail control before they even sell me anything, I'd worry about what kind of support they are going to provide after I've paid my money, should anything go wrong.

Regardless of this, and whether or not you feel it reasonable, it is obvious that this vendor's strategy hasn't paid off, as they've surely lost (at least) one customer!

Well imagine that if an email can get "lost in the ether, or erroneously moved to a spam folder, etc.", imagine what could happen to an order, or the amount of effort it would take to correct any problems with an order, etc.

Not to mention, isn't Dr. Drib the resident MR Head of Consumer Protection.

Don,

They did reply me promptly, over a failed order. If you need a direct contact (in the form of email address), let me know, I can PM you.

BTW, they only have Onyx at the moment and do not do international sales (only orders purchased using US banks issued credit cards to US address will be accepted).

I just spoke to Greenlight Books. They do have the Aura in stock; they do not ship internationally.

See how easy things can be?
