My perfect Kindle...

Hi!

I notice there is another poll below with wishes for new features so I thought I would offer my minimalist pipe dream.

The perfect Kindle would be a Kindle non-touch that is still being sold WITH the Paperwhite back-light and restored touch system.

It would retain the physical Home button and the physical page left and right buttons. The touch screen would take care of all the other interactions.

I don't care if they put the Home button at the top or at the bottom.

Would you buy this hybrid for $99 with offers? Vote yes if you would and maybe Amazon will notice.

They are bound to have thought of this and have prototypes!

eInk devices can't have backlights. The screen is opaque.

If it had the side buttons, just like the K4NT, and a lit screen like the Paperwhite, you betcha!! I love the side buttons, TO ME they are easier on my old thumb than touch screen. I can go either way with the screen being touch, it is inconsequential to me, the 4 way controller doesn't bother me too much, but I can see why people would prefer touch screen.

Actually, I would buy 3, maybe 4 of them. Two for me, one or two for mom........

Of course, I mean the current light from the Paperwhite, which is a technically a frontlight.

I think I'm used to the touch screen now. Maybe the ideal version would be more like the simple touch with page buttons and a touch screen?

My "perfect" Kindle would have better PDF support. Amazon always sucked at this (intentionally, since they wanna sell e-books in proprietary formats). Speaking of which:

My "perfect" Kindle would also support ePub. Yeah, fat chance.

I too would like buttons (page and home buttons), touch (for dictionary look up and highlights, etc.) and a front light. So yes, I'd buy your "perfect Kindle" with or without SO as long as it has a 3G flavor as well.

Last time I looked Amazon was offering Kindles and eBooks for sale to willing buyers. If you don't like that it is rude to try and derail a useful discussion.
