Original The Stand in ebook?

I'm a King fan, but have never read his epics -- Stand and Dark Tower. I've gotten several recommendations to read the Stand -- the original version.

I checked kindle store and the version they have is 1300+ pages, obviously the expanded one. Is the original available in ebook format?

Should I just bite the bullet and read the new version?

So you know my taste: yes, I, like many, prefer classic King. However, I think he's having a renaissance with Full Dark, No Stars, Joyland, and especially 11/22/63.

I'm pretty certain only the uncut version was released as an ebook, at least on the legal side of things.

The additions to the uncut version aren't bad, just unnecessary.

The expanded version just added some extra scenes involving characters like "Trashcan man" and "The Kid" that were cut out by the editors when the book was originally published. Some of what was cut (according to Mr. King) deserved to be and wasn't put back in when the expanded version was published. I have both (in paper) and haven't noticed that the expanded version is that much thicker than the cut version.

I didn't particularly care for the *ending* of the expanded one. I don't remember the differences between the other additions...just the ending.

Oh, I don't remember a difference, I read them years apart. Dang, now I have to dig out both my paperback versions and check out the endings. Grumble grumble, can't change font size, eyes too old for the small font in paper backs, grumble grumble....

I read the uncut version and I recommend it highly. I've never read the original version but I did not feel the uncut was too long and the ending was just fine.

I like Mr. King's books and the movies aren't bad either. It's great fun trying to guess where he'll pop up in a cameo role ala Alfred Hitchcock.
