epub cover pictures

I am trying to change the cover picture for ebooks on my kobo glo. I have changed the picture using calibre and the new picture shows up in the calibre library and on the tile of the home screen of my kobo glo. However, when I open the book to read it, on both calibre on my computer, and on Glo, the old cover picture still shows. I have closed both calibre and glo and restarted both, but still they are showing the old cover picture. Any ideas on what is happening please guys? Thanks in advance.

On the KoboTouch driver, make sure you have "Upload covers for books" checked when sending to device (Preferences, Plugins, Device Interface plugins, KoboTouch).

I prefer to just change the cover within the book by using the "Polish Book" plugin, which usually eliminates the problem. Check "Update the cover in the book files" and that's the only change made, it's very non-intrusive. And this is the step that you need to do to swap out the old cover image for the new cover you selected that you want to see within the epub.

Thanks for the prompt reply.
I had used the edit meta data individually option in calibre which allowed me to change the cover picture. Once I had changed the cover picture I thought that would be ok. Seems like a no no. Repeated this, then used the polish book option, as suggested by you, and for now it seems to work.

Mahal48,
The reason the cover "didn't work" is that you told calibre to use a specific cover for the ebook within it's own database.

I believe their is an "include cover in ebook" option in Preferences or Tweaks that will update the book when a new cover is set. Otherwise this occurs when converting a book. Of course, there is a catch - I know at least one of the ebook formats doesn't accept cover images.

Someone else just posted a similar question very recently (week or so ago).

I'm must be missing it...i cannot find that option

@gabby98 - IMO - if you have EPUB and/or AZW3 the simplest thing is to always run Polish (press 'p') immediately after you download or create a new cover.

Polish is not an optional plugin, it is part of the core functionality. But because its a fairly recent enhancement you may need to add it to your toolbars/menus in Preferences->Toolbars. By design Calibre updates do not change existing toolbars or menu's.
