Barnes and Noble has them. You could use Calibre and Google Apprentice Alf and not have to worry about proprietary formats ever again.

Converting from Mobi to ePub is trivial with Calibre, but if Amazon sells them it's reasonable to assume that the ePub stores also sell them.

I'd been told Don't Bite the Sun (Also packaged with another novel as Biting the Sun) is really good. But it doesn't appear to be available in ebook format. I could of course purchase a used paperback for $0.03, but meh.

Anyone have suggestions for a good starting point for Tanith Lee that might be available as an ebook?

I really wish the Blood Opera Sequence would be released in e-format. That would make me very, very happy. I keep checking stores every few months or so hoping, but I don't think it's going to happen. At least not via legal means. But it is nice to see that more of her other work has been made available recently.

Yeah ok so if I get a book off amazon how do I get the ebook on to my computer? I used to have a kindle app and I looked at a book I had on my amazon account and it says deliver to kindle. How do I get it from amazon to my computer so I can convert it? I use a linux system too.

It's against the rules to discuss the details of conversion (i.e. DRM removal) but as far as downloading a book to your computer all you would need is the kindle for PC app in order to read it on your computer. Beyond that your best bet is to google apprentice alf.
