Calibre Plug-Ins?
Hi all. I am a bit of a newbie and have a catalogue of about 27,000 ebooks all in epub format. Most are freebies and others I have purchased or swapped.
This makes my laptop very sluggish although I use an HP Envey Core i5 with 8GB RAM and running Windows 8 (64bit). I obviously need to scale back as Calibre isn't handling the amount of data very well so I was wondering what advanced users of Calibre would recommend in the way of PLUG-INS? I am thinking of using the FIND DUPLICATES plug-in to help remove doubles or trebles etc Also I want to try and store my database in not only Book Title Order, but also by Book Series at the same time. Finally a Plug-In or setup for searching for Metadata & Book cover. What would advanced users recommend in the settings please? Many thanks Tony (Bigyun2000) UK |

Will the advice of an intermediate user do?
![]() I use the Find Duplicates plugin and it works very well to find duplicates. I look for similar title, similar author and that gets everything for me. One thing I do to manage space is to set up separate libraries for different books. I have a library for comics, a library for subscriptions, a library for general books, a library for a specific genre, etc. That said, I don't have close to the same number of books that you do. For storing by series, I have no idea. I know you can have the Series tag. Probably you'd need to change how Calibre saves books to include that? |

There is a forum just for Calibre. You might get your question answered more quickly there.

You need to post in the correct forum, which would be the calibre forum.
Your thread has now been moved. Don (Moderator) |

You might also want to search here for tips on performance with large libraries.
For instance, avoid having a column displayed that shows the formats a book has. See Calibre Speedup for some handy tips. |
