I daily download free books from amazon via their Kindle desktop application and then "add" them to calibre. About 10 days ago I started receiving files that the ebook view was unable to open (see following messages, each book has similar messages but with different line #s). The files will open in the Kindle desktop application without any problems. This process worked 100% of the time until about the 11th of this month. Now about 10% of the files are coming up as problems. Suggestions for solutions would be welcomed. (I haven't added any new software or updates lately, running on Vista and using version 9.30 of calibre) Thanks in advance for taking a look at this. (p.s. not a computer programmer, just somewhat familiar, plain language instructions & patience appreciated.) calibre, version 0.9.30 ERROR: Could not open ebook: invalid continuation byte Traceback (most recent call last): File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\viewer\main.py", line 40, in run File "threading.py", line 763, in run File "site-packages\calibre\ebooks\oeb\iterator\book.py", line 99, in __enter__ File "site-packages\calibre\customize\conversion.py", line 239, in __call__ File "site-packages\calibre\ebooks\conversion\plugins\mobi_in put.py", line 40, in convert File "site-packages\calibre\ebooks\mobi\reader\mobi8.py", line 95, in __call__ File "site-packages\calibre\ebooks\mobi\reader\mobi8.py", line 425, in expand_text File "site-packages\calibre\ebooks\mobi\reader\markup.py", line 310, in expand_mobi8_markup File "site-packages\calibre\ebooks\mobi\reader\markup.py", line 51, in update_internal_links File "encodings\utf_8.py", line 16, in decode UnicodeDecodeError: 'utf8' codec can't decode bytes in position 65117-65118: invalid continuation byte Last edited by bauerhjb; 05-19-2013 at 10:45 AM. |
