Image causing problems with book view

Can anyone tell me what is wrong with the following code?

Code:
<p class="mediaobject1" id="how0000131"><a id="page_8"></a><a id="img2"></a></p>

  <svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" viewBox="0 0 1200 1600">
    <image height="1600" transform="translate(0 0)" width="1200" xlink:href="../Images/9780141005348_003.jpg"></image>
The images in this particular epub are all formatted like this and they all break the text in the book view in Sigil. There is no text appearing at all for that html file after the first image. The epub works fine in both calibre viewer and adobe digital editions. I have managed to edit the epub successfully but with WinRAR and editing the css directly.

I should've spotted that. All the svg tags are closed at the end of the html file. Very odd.
