				O'Reilly books and whispersync

I have some mobi books from O'Reilly and they show in my Kindle Paperwhite as personal documents instead of ebooks and I can't sync the further page read between devices.

I have tried to modify the metadata with Mobimetaeditor but it didn't work. Is the only solution to convert from mobi to mobi in Calibre? |

I believe that if you upload the books via email that the last page read will sync. I'm not sure, however, because I never use that feature.

I have lot of Oreilly database books and they sync without issues. On some, I can even see their covers. |

Moreover, using send to kindle instead of side loading will conserve storage on your Kindle. O'Reilly mobi files are 'hybrid', i.e. they contain both kf8 and mobi, so they are roughly twice as large. Personal document service delivers only the format that your device can understand, so where a Paperwhite will get kf8, Kindle for iPad would get mobi.

Calibre can handle this also but it is not as convenient. |

As others have said, you can sync across devices if you e-mail the book to your Kindle.
