Am I the only one who dislikes Carousel?

EVERYThing gets dumped in there! Even the last web page you were on! Absolutely no organization. And while you can remove stuff, you can't guarantee it won't get added again in some automated process.

I thoroughly hate it too; so I got rid of it with ADW Launcher. Now my Fire looks like an Android tablet should. I have folders, multiple screens, and wallpaper.

I'm a happy camper

I wouldn't mind the carousel so much if there was a bit more control to it and also if it was a bit more restrained in what it showed e.g. just showing the kindle app instead of every book etc.

We use ADW Launcher on our Fires, too. I access all my apps that way.

Using GO launcher on my first gen KindleFire with a wall paper app that let me use whatever backdrop I want just like a true Android tablet

I could never go back to the Kindergarden Stock Amazon interface.

I like being able to switch between the carousel and ADW. I also love that when I open an app from ADW, it doesn't pop up on the carousel.

I couldn't find any version of ADW that worked with 1st gen Fire. I could find a version of Go, but it seems aimed at phones. It appears to work well enough, I guess, though the Weather bug widget is kind of small. Are there any problems using Go on the K Fire 1st gen?

Also, are there any other Launchers I should look at for the 1st gen Fire?

I used Go Launcher on my 1st gen Fire. It worked very nicely.

But for $69 for a refurb, I had to see if it was worth it.

To the good, I like the 7 inch screen, not much more awkward to use and handle than my Sony PRS300.

But the user interface of the Kindle Fire is just horrible. and I feel far more constrained by my inability to use Google apps than I thought I would.

It makes a nice ereader and I don't regret buying it. But long term, Amazon needs a major overhaul I think to keep up with the other tablet manufacturers. I don't think I'm likely to consider Kindle for my next tablet purchase.

. I actually love it. I like what it does and how it looks. I have the original 1st generation fire and now a 8.9 HD. I still love it. The carousel was one of the reasons why I got one.

For me I look at it like a time capsule. All the things I do, or did, are right there easy for me to get back too.

I would be really upset if they took it away and made it look like all the other tablets out there.
