Library disappeared

when i changed my ereader from a sony to a Kindle, I didnt need the conversion programme as much. I havent opened the programme for many months and now I find that it is empty.
I havent upgraded as the prompt told me not to if I didnt want any of the new features. Im on 0.8.4. How do I get my library back please?

No, that hasnt worked. the prompt said there were 3 stages, The "restore" happened within a couple of seconds but there is nothing there. I didnt see 3 stages.
If I was to re-start using calibre from scratch would it work?

The one that's relevant to you is most likely the first one:

Your calibre library folder changed its location. This can happen if it was on an external disk and the drive letter for that disk changed. Or if you accidentally moved the folder. In this case, calibre cannot find its library and so starts up with an empty library instead. To remedy this, do a right-click on the calibre icon in the calibre toolbar (it will say 0 books underneath it) and select Switch/create library. Click the little blue icon to select the new location of your calibre library and click OK.
