Period showing up on the top of every chapter page
This is strange, and I hope someone can help. After I convert my file from mobi to epub, both files show up with a dot on the top of each page of the front matter and chapter. Just noticed it this morning, and I can't figure out how this is happening. Does anyone have a clue as to what I'm doing wrong?
Here's a link to my book. In the "look inside" feature, you'll see what I'm talking about. Hoping someone has an answer for me because I'm stuck with this one. Thanks. Note: I'm not getting any error messages. Eleni Last edited by Eleni; 03-08-2013 at 03:49 PM. |

Hello Eleni,
Looks like "Unison available for free until tonight!" has expired. Open your book in the calibre E-Book Viewer. Then right-click on a page that has the mysterious dot and select "Inspect" from the drop-down menu. You might have a pointer to a jpg file that isn't there. Possibly one or more of the ornate chapter headings are not located where they're expected to be. Just guessing without being able to dissect the sample of "Unison". Marty |

Thanks for responding Marty:
I suspect the problem is in the CSS as the dot seems to remain fixed like the title header or perhaps the page break which would make sense. If anyone is familiar with CSS, I'd like to see if I'm on the right track here with my assumption. Thanks body { text-align: justify } blockquote { margin: 0em 0em 0em 2em; } p { margin: 0em; text-indent: 1.5em } .bold { font-weight: bold } .italic { font-style: italic } .underline { text-decoration: underline } .mbp_pagebreak { page-break-after: always; margin: 0; display: block } .calibre_67 { margin-top: 2em; text-indent: 0pt; text-align: center } .calibre_362 { margin-top: 1em; text-indent: 0pt; text-align: center } .calibre_18 { margin-top: 0pt; text-indent: 0pt } .calibre_19 { margin-top: 8pt; text-indent: 0pt } .calibre_379 { margin-top: 0pt; text-indent: 1em } .calibre_14 { margin-top: 3em; text-indent: 0pt; text-align: center } .calibre_69 { margin-top: 14pt; text-indent: 0pt } .calibre_17 { margin-top: 2em; text-indent: 0pt } .calibre_10 { vertical-align: baseline } .calibre_12 { margin-top: 1em; text-indent: 0pt } .calibre_7053 { margin-top: 1em; text-indent: -19pt; margin-left: 19pt } .calibre_7057 { margin-top: 0pt; text-indent: -19pt; margin-left: 19pt } .calibre_356 { margin-top: 14pt; text-indent: 0pt; text-align: center } .calibre_9 { margin-top: 0pt; text-indent: 0pt; text-align: center } .calibre_51 { margin-top: 8pt; text-indent: 0pt; text-align: center } .calibre_393 { margin-top: 8pt; text-indent: 1em } .calibre_60 { margin-top: 8em; text-indent: 0pt; text-align: center } |

I figured out a fix. I found a program called Sigil. I created an Epub file on Calibre, did the editing on Sigil (had to delete the dot on every file) and converted it back to Mobi on Calibre. It worked!

Hi Eleni,
Yep, checked again and it's now dotless! ![]() I'm an addict of "classic" SF (Asimov, Clarke, Bradbury, Heinlein, Pohl, etc.) and have exhausted everything available. Always looking for something new and will definitely sample "Unison". Regards, Marty |

Thanks Marty. Sigil is a great program. It saved me. I just uploaded the corrected format. Phew. That was an ordeal.
