Kobo WiFi - Battery indicator outside menu?

Just a quick question, is there an update or another way to get a battery indicator outside the menu on the Kobo Wifi?
I've just discovered (again) that the battery is empty, seconds before leaving home.
I don't check the menu daily, so I rarely notice in advance if it's going to go out soon.

Gah I hate it when that happens

We should REALLY get battery warning popups at 20, 10 and 5%. Grrr.
