Re-convert books for new unit?

I love my iPad Mini but get eye strain after 30-45 min so I'm going to buy the Kobo Glo. Will I have to convert my close to 600 iPad Mini formatted ebooks to "fit" the Kobo Glo's "layout" (page margins, formatting etc.)?

Edit: I just converted Stephen King's "The Tommyknockers" from iPad Mini formatted .epub to Kobo Glo formatting.

The Tommyknockers.epub (iPad Mini formatted): 715,048 byte (717K)
The Tommyknockers.epub (Kobo Glo formatted): 706,439 byte (709K)

So.. what's the deal?

I thought since I am very susceptible to eye strain reading backlit screens that I would have the same issue with my Nexus 7, but I am able to drop the brightness down to 1% and I have zero eye strain.

The reading software I use (Moon+ Reader Pro) recently added a feature that allows me to reduce the brightness below what is possible using the Nexus 7 controls so when I am reading my display is set to -12% brightness. I know a minus percentage doesn't make sense but I am happy with this setting.

With few exceptions there is no conversion needed as long as the books are DRM free. Setting the Kobo as the page setup essentially just ensures all images are resized small enough to fit the Kobo's screen size. So if you had comics in CBR format you might have to convert them so the images would fit the Kobo's screen. But the vast majority of Novels are mostly text and the text of ePubs reflow you are most like safe not doing a thing.

Good Reading.

As DoctorOHH said, the size difference is probably the cover image being resized based on the output profile. The output profile for Kobo devices sets the images to smaller than the iPad profile (and no, I don't remember the sizes). I tend to use the Tablet profile so that the images won't be resized. I happy with the way my two Kobo devices handle this.

As a side note I always said I would stick with Sony devices until another reader was as well integrated into calibre as the Sony devices were. Well I bought a Nexus 7 because the developer that contributed the most to the integration the Sony devices with calibre was creating an App for Android that is as well hooked into calibre as my Sony devices.

I say this only as a reference. I have never had a Kobo, but it appears from what I have read that the device driver for the Kobo devices has all of the same integration features that the Sony devices do (well done davidfor) so a Kobo Glo sounds like a good choice for the OP.
