Getting notifications of release

Just wondering if there was a way to get notified of upcoming releases from authors etc, and "not" doing the pre-order option, just getting emails etc.

Some publishers have options for doing that (such as HarperCollins AuthorTracker) and many authors have newsletters, but with both options you might get more than just new release announcements. AFAIK Amazon doesn't offer anything like this for customers nor does B&N.

It would certainly be handy, I'm slightly puzzled as to why Amazon has never had some kind of "authors watch list", after all it would be in their interest...

Edit: have just sent Amazon a feedback suggestion, maybe if others could do that too we might eventually have it? Would be good for music as well.

Do either of those two sites let you specify that you are just interested in Kindle books, for example?

Also, do either of those sites notify of previously published books being re-released? I am trying to replace my paper library with ebooks, and would love a service that could crawl sites looking for specific authors, and let me know when new books are available in digital form.

Author Alerts only use Amazon for release dates, and you can choose between us, co.uk or ca. Format can be restricted to kindle books if you want to.

I'm going to have to check out the links given, there's definitely a need, I'm trying to replace most of my paper with ebook too.
